DON'T SELL IT

Image
January 31 Devotional Reading DON'T SELL IT I Kings 21:3 "but Naboth said to Ahab, 'The Lord forbid that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you'" Christianity is being compromised with different explanation.
There is no difference between a believer and unbeliever.
the love of money has taken over the day.
women can sell their bodies just to get what they want.
Christians marrying unbelievers is no longer a tobaoo.

this is my view about the story i read in I Kings 21.

Naboth had a vineyard.
the vineyard was Naboth inheritance.
They've been warned by God against the selling of inheritance. Numbers 36:7
King Ahab wanted to use money for the exchange of Naboth's vineyard but he refused to sell his inheritance.
King Ahab made another offer to Naboth-- the offer is getting him another land better than this in a better place. Naboth refused.
Naboth had the courage of his convictions to stand up for God, truth and righteousness. Though it was costly.

THIS CAN DESTROY ALL YOU HAVE. BEWARE

Proverbs 16:32. "He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city."
Anger is a normal, healthy emotion. However, it can be a problem if you find it difficult to keep it under control

Nothing good ever came from anger.
It destroys relationships.
It destroys lives.
It’s very hard to live with an angry person.
If you are calm, you will have better control over your life.
If you could control your anger, you will be more responsible and trustworthy.
As Christians, it is better to live at peace with your neighbors, and let go of anger.
It brings nothing but trouble.

Ephesians 4:31,32 "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you."

CONSIDER THIS

CONSIDER THIS  Ecc 1:2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all [is] vanity.

meanings of vanity involve "emptyness", i.e. futility. Life without God is vanity.  Life lived in selfishness is vanity.  Life lived in greed and false witnesses is vanity.  If you steal today, one day you will eat what you have stolen, what's the reward?  Excessive pride in outward appearance is considered an empty or futile concern, because we all grow old and lose the freshness of youth.  Beauty fades.  Houses get old.  Cars will rust.  Fashion goes obsolete.  ONLY ONE THING IS SURE, DEATH.  AND AFTER DEATH, WHAT NEXT?
consider your life carefully, don't live as if you will not die.  Let

I HAVE CONSCIENCE, I DON'T NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT

1 Corinthians 6:19 "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;"

These are some of those things the Holy Spirit is doing that Conscience can't do.

The Holy Spirit is Powerful.
The Holy Spirit helps us to overcome sin
The Holy Spirit enables us to live joyfully
The Holy Spirit makes us live an abundant Christian lives
The Holy Spirit strengthens us anytime we face temptation
The Holy Spirit encourage us in times of discouragement
The Holy Spirit guides us in times of decision- helps to make the right decision
The Holy Spirit helps us to live our lives to the fullest
The Holy Spirit transforms us personally
The Holy Spirit transforms God's church corporately

To cap it all------
The Holy Spirit leads us.

Conscience alone cannot do these.

Pray for the Holy Spirit and you will never remain the same.

Touching story
There was a farmer who had many horses and a goat
One day a horse was very sick and he called a vetenary doctor
He checked the horse and told the farmer that it had a virus
So he told the farmer that it will take medicine for three days, that on the third day he will come back to check on the horse
And if the horse is not better
The farmer will have to kill it
The goat heard and went to tell the horse
Friend you have to be very strong and recover quickly becos if you fail to recover you will be killed in three days time
The first day that the medicine was given to the horse no improvement
The second day the same thing
On the third that the vet came he still did not see any changes
That was how he called the farmer
I'm afraid we will have to kill this horse
Becos if care is not taken, the virus will spread to the other horses and that will be a great loss.
The farmer replied that okay no problem that's what he will do
Meanwhile where the goat was hiding he heard t…

REASONS FOR FAILURE

Genesis 3:12-13
The man said, "The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate." Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" And the woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

Talk unbelief, and you will have unbelief; but talk faith, and you will have faith. According to the seed sown will be the harvest. Ellen G. White

In the next couple of days, we will alight some reasons we give when we fail but the question is- are the reasons genuine enough for us to fail?

Excuses:

Sometimes we make excuses to avoid responsibility for our actions.

We make excuses for things we did wrong, times we failed, things we don't want to do, situations we don't want to be in.  How many times have you told someone "I forgot" when in reality you just didn't want to do what was asked of you?

Making excuses isn't a good practic…

WHY SHOULD I GIVE UP

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God,which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

This song "it is well with  My Soul" was written by a successful Christian lawyer Heratio Spafford.
His only son died at age 4 in 1871.
In 1872, the great Chicago fire wiped out his vast estate, made from a successful legal career.
In 1873 he sent his wife & 4 daughters over to Europe on a summer trip on the ill fated SS Ville du Havre.
Since he had a lot of work to do, he planned to follow them later.
The Ship sank and he lost his 4 daughters with the wife being the only survivor.
She sent him a famous telegram which simply read, "SAVED ALONE...."

On his return home, his Law firm was burned down and the insurance company refused to pay him. They said "It's an Act of God".

He had no money to pay for his house and no work, he also lost his house.
Then while thinking about w…

SELFISH IDEAS THAT CAN RUIN YOU part 2

BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY
James 3:16 "For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing."

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
The sin which is indulged to the greatest extent, which separates us from God and produces so many spiritual disorders, and which are contagious, is selfishness. Ellen G. White

If you are not very careful with some things, you would have forgotten you've been acting selfishly. These are some ideas that will reveal to you if you are selfish or not.
1.When your shoe rack look as if you are selling shoes and there are people in your church, school, or friends who has been exchanging 2 shoes all along. You saw it but closed your eyes to it. That is atom of selfishness.
2.You have food, your neighbour is hungry and he/she has been complaining they are hungry, yet when you are ready to eat, you stylishly take the food to a separate place and eat because you think it can't be enough fo…

Selfish ideas that can ruin you. Part 1

Image
January 24 devotional daily

The primary cause for our ills can be summed up in one word: Selfishness.

SELFISH IDEAS THAT CAN RUIN YOU.  part 1

James 3:16
For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing

I wonder when people claim to be Christ followers and not living like Christ.

We tend to keep riches and wealth till future generations when our neighbor is hungry.

God has given you that wealth to bless others and not for selfish interest.

Use your riches for the gospel to spread to the whole world.

This is not easy, I know.

No wonder that rich who came to Jesus walked away soberly.

Dismiss all selfish ideas and all selfish pursuits.

Cease to form selfish schemes, or to scramble after selfish good.

Be satisfied with Christ and his love; so shall he accept your heart's love and make you his own

DON'T COMPARE YOUR SPOUSE WITH ANOTHER

God is preparing your husband.
Only God is fully aware of the necessary ingredients needed to complete His plan.
Don’t tamper with His recipe.
Treat your husband with tender loving care.
Make full use of opportunities to truly be a helpmeet

Tips needed:

DO accept his preferences. If your husband likes to have dinner on the table right when he comes home from work, try to do that for him. If he likes the toilet paper roll to go over, rather than under, try to accommodate him. If he enjoys having a cup of coffee in the morning, try to have one ready for him to take with him when he leaves.

Allow him to enjoy his friends and his interests away from the home without viewing these interests as “the enemy.” When one spouse hates something that the other loves, a wall begins to be constructed between the two.

DON’T correct him in front of others (when he tells a story, when he tells a joke, his English, his per…

HOW CHEATING ON YOUR SPOUSE DAMAGES YOU

HOW CHEATING ON YOUR SPOUSE DAMAGES YOU

Most of the time the effect of unfaithfulness is focused on the one being cheated on, today, let's look at the negative effect it has on the one who cheats.

1. "It makes you defensive"
Suddenly you feel everyone is out to get you. You became easily irritable out of fear you are about to get caught

2. "It makes you lack peace"
You will change into an angry, restless person

3. "It will open doors to more sinning"
Because you are OK with cheating, gradually you'll be OK with lying, stealing, being selfish, insulting even being violent

4. "It will ruin your relationship with God"
You cannot confidently approach God knowing you are living in sin

5. "Your character will be damaged"
Somehow you will not be the honourable person you used to be. You will go to places that embrace your wrong doing

6. "It will ruin your moral compass"
Somehow, you won't have the guts to stand up for wh…
