DO NOT ACT FOR A REWARD BUT FOR A SENSE OF DUTY.

Esther 2:7 And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle's daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.

The life of Mordecai is enough to be emulated. He brought Esther up as she was an orphan. He never took advantage of her and turned her into a sex machine. But what do we have today? The reversed is the case, you cannot trust anybody with your girl child anymore. It is either they turned her into nothing like a maid, or abused her.

The life of Esther also was also rewarding. She adhered to the teaching of her guardian, she didn’t possess the attitude of too-know or probably go her own way like we have today, it is all about character for the blessing. Assuming she had given in to a man, how would she go for the contest not to talk of winning.

"Mordecai, discovered a plot against the king, and told it to his ward, the queen, and she to her royal spouse. The deed was unrewarded; in this, however, the faithful doorkeeper felt no disappointment. He acted not for reward, but from a sense of duty. But the act was registered both in heaven and on earth, and it bore fruit. It is enough for us to do our duty, and please God." F.B. Meyer.
